.:Opening Ceremony of Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games:.

15th March 2006.It was Wednesday. Chilling day with cool breeze was the right weather for the opening ceremony of the Melbourne 2006 commonwealth games. It was something that I will not miss as it will be a once in a lifetime experience. Upon arriving Flinders Street train station. I notice a mass of people crowding the area. Swanston Street was sardine pack with people. People every where were waving their national flags. First we had to go get something to eat as I was supposed to meet up with Sarah and Janice for dinner before we headed to the city. I was late, so we had to have our dinner in the city. Eating in was a bad idea as time is running out. So, we bought McDonalds and brought to Federation Square which has a big screen that is open to the public to witness the opening ceremony. However, we changed venue to Alexandra Park. According to Janice to view there would be much better. On foot across the bridge I could see the Melbourne Cricket Ground which the opening ceremony is held. It was light up with a million kilowatts. It was beautiful. On top of, on the Yarra River there were fish like boats that were lighted up with cool colours. Each boat was connected by a platform that has the flags of all the participating countries. There were a total of 7 large screens in the park. The night started with a graceful fountains show by the fish like boats. Later, the skies of Melbourne City were a blaze with beautiful fireworks that was utterly amazing. It was all beautiful that night.I cant wait till the closing ceremony.I bet it will be a blast.
